Training course on Mouse intervention – mouse/tissue phenotyping
October 9 – 13, 2006

Course participants enjoying a break

Within the EUGeneHeart Training Initiative, the course on mouse intervention – mouse/tissue phenotyping offered by the department of Cardiology and Pneumology at University Hospital Goettingen exceeded all expectations. The 5 days course allowed 5 participants to dig into the existing knowledge related to mouse intervention and phenotyping. For said course, the training site extended its offer to a broader technical spectrum, including demonstrations of many challenging techniques, such as catheter assisted in vivo investigation and ultrasonic measurements of murine hearts.

The participants coming from Slovakia, Belgium, Austria and Germany, two of them were women, have learned innovative methods which not only need now to be established in their own labs, but to be implemented in their phenotyping portofolio. The participants were highly pleased with the training and the way of imparting the knowledge. We would like to share an excerpt from the throughout positive feedback: “The schedule is flexible, that was very good. For my purpose, this course was perfect. Communication and discussion was very fruitful. Thank you very much.”

The Goettingen site appreciates the opportunity of sharing their knowledge and methodologies related to basic cardiological research with young researchers from all over Europe. This Training Initiative is a further step in orchestrating the research efforts on developing new solutions for cardiac diseases. Due to the very positive result, we would be pleased to offer this course in the future again.
